The novel coronavirus is affecting the lives of everyone around the world and the couples who are planning their wedding in 2020, 2021 are faced with unique challenges. So we are here to give some expert wedding planning advice to couples to overcome this complicated experience.

Safety measures during COVID-19

The deadly Coronavirus has no know vaccination yet. COVID-19 spreads mainly by droplets produced as a result of coughing or sneezing of a COVID-19 infected person. This can happen in two ways:

  • Direct close contact: one can get the infection by being in close contact with COVID-19 patients (within one Metre of the infected person), especially if they do not cover their face when coughing or sneezing.
  • Indirect contact: the droplets survive on surfaces and clothes for many days. Therefore, touching any such infected surface or cloth and then touching one’s mouth, nose or eyes can transmit the disease.

The incubation period of COVID 19 (time between getting the infection and showing symptoms) is 1 to 14 days. Some people with the infection, but without any serious symptoms can also spread the disease.

The common symptoms of the virus are fever, dry cough, breathing difficulty.

On Mach 24th, the Government of India, in order to control the spread of virus announced complete lockdown. It was advised to avoid mass gatherings and follow social distancing. We recommend following up with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and World Health Organization (WHO). Stay safe, stay informed and avoid miscommunication

The pandemic has no vaccine yet so it is advisable to follow the rules and change your upcoming plans. Here’s how you can deal with the Corona Virus during this time:

  • Maintain social distance – this is very important. Do not go out to meet your vendors or don’t arrange for a meeting with your planner. Use video calls to conduct meetings.
  • Always cover your mouth and nose while going out.
  • Sanitize or wash your hands regularly
  • Do not meet your relatives; convey the messages to them on call or a text.
  • Avoid going out unnecessarily.

Planning a wedding is stressful enough without a global pandemic changing your plans. It is frustrating when all your plans go in vain and you don’t know how to move forward. This is the best time to lean on your family and your partner as you make tough decisions about what to do next.

Weddings are promises made for forever and in this promise, we are there with you to help you out even with the minute details. There are many things that you and your partner can still accomplish in your wedding planning with things being closed. You can create a rough draft of your timeline, or decide on all the other wedding functions, or create a menu for your cocktail party. We have listed down a few things that you should keep in mind before making any decision:-

  • Be proactive with your vendors- Keep in mind that wedding vendors are small businesses and they are greatly impacted by the outcomes of COVID-19.
  • Communication with all your guests- Remember that your guests were also eagerly waiting for your wedding. Whatever decision you take to make sure that you drop a text saying your decision and the reason for it. After that check, your guests list after sorting other things out and make a list as to which guests need to be called personally and which guests only need a card or a message.
  • Figure out all other possible scenarios- What if your guests’ list is reduced as many can’t come on the new date or you only decide to have a small intimate wedding. In that case, you have to create a new guest list and call the uninvited guests personally and explain them the reason. It’s better if they hear from you directly.
  • Contact your wedding dress designer.
  • Be in touch with your wedding videographer and discuss how to move forward with things as in where and how to do the pre-wedding shoot.
  • Your guests might have already made their travel arrangements. From what we have seen, the airlines and logging services are working with customers to rebook and refund due to COVID-19.

One can even have a private wedding now and a grand reception later. It is more common than you think in western countries. But Indian weddings don’t work like that. Indian weddings are famous for their elaborate functions. In this case you are left with two options cancelling or postponing.

Speaking of cancelling, we absolutely recommend postponing your wedding if at all possible. Cancelling might cost you a lot, emotionally and financially. Therefore, think carefully and make the decision jointly with your partner and your family members. Once you have decided to change your wedding plans and postpone the date, here are a few steps to help you plan your wedding during COVID-19

  1. Choose a new date: – Choosing a new date may or may not be an easy task. Check-in with our partner, your family members, your wedding party and your vendor and come out with a suitable date.
  2. Managing your vendors: – Check out the contract you have with your vendors. Discuss possible alternative dates, whether there will be an additional cost for postponing or cancelling. Ask about their policies.
  3. Contact your Wedding Planner: – If you have a wedding Planner, contact them to let them know of your decision and start tackling the to-do list proactively together.
  4. Confirm the new date with your venue and all the other suppliers who are able to work for the new date with a clear overview of financial ramifications (whether any additional costs will be incurred or if all money paid/due is transferrable). Review the new payment schedule with them, and make sure to get agreements in writing. For any suppliers who are not able to work for the new date, review the cancellation policies and look for other new suppliers.
  5. Send out Change the Dates cards: – Once you have decided on the new date, contact your guests to let them know of the new plan and what your revised date will be. Don’t worry about upsetting people; some may be disappointed for you, but the majority of your guests will actually be relieved. Just communicate candidly what you know and give them details about how they can stay up-to-date on the information in the future.
  6. Go through your plans again: – Sit with your wedding planner and discuss all the details. Postponing your wedding means you will have to consider the season of your new wedding date, the style of your day may change with different weather conditions, colour trends, and in-season florals. You’ll have to explore other wedding venues and wedding themes.
  7. Try not to look back: – Once you have made your decisions try not to look back. Embrace the change and look towards the brighter side.
  8. No one could have anticipated something like this affecting your wedding. It’s okay to feel the way you’re feeling, you are not alone. So, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you can do this! With some patience, courage, ingenuity, and flexibility, you’ll still be able to have the wedding you’ve always dreamt of. Treat this as an opportunity to prioritize the things that mean the most to you.

Keep calm, everything will get sorted eventually. In these difficult times take help of your family members or your wedding planner. If you have a wedding planner or plan to hire one then all these things will become a lot easier as they will take most of the burden away from you. You will just have to contact them and not several other vendors. Thus, choosing a wedding planner carefully is very important.

To conclude, be positive you will have the dream wedding you always wanted. If you are looking for Famous Wedding Planners in Delhi, you’ll get numerous options to explore.
